Moygara Salers

Moygara Salers, Ireland's oldest Salers Herd was started in 1993. The foundation animals of our Herd were personally selected daughters of High Index Cows from Top French Herds.

Moygara Salers offer for sale 7 PBNR Salers Heifers with 3-4 mth calves at foot, 5 heifers and 2 bulls. Five AI'd again to CH. Top Quality home bred cattle from a High Health Status Herd. For sale as one lot.

 

 

By careful usage of semen from the top French and UK bulls we now have  herd of deeply fleshed, medium framed cattle with a large pelvis and excellent udders.

One of our first imports was Java ( see photo album). Purchased at the National Salers Show in Mauriac, her dam a Besson bred cow was Paris Show Champion a few years earlier. During Java's show career she won 15 first prizes, 5 Salers Championships and the 1st Interbreed won by a Salers in Ireland ( Overall Champion Elphin Show 1999).

Her major influence in our Herd had come from her progeny. Calving first and producing twins in 1995, she calved every year until 2010, having another set of twins in 2004, she produced 18 calves in all.

One of her sons was exported to Scotland and two to Northern Ireland, with a further four sold into Pedigree Herds at home. Five of her daughters have been retained in the herd.

One of these, Moygara Cordelia is dam to Moygara Japan ( see Salers Photo Album ) highest priced Salers Bull at Tully Sale April 2011, exported to Northern Ireland.

Since 1998 Moygara Salers have put 16 bulls through the National Bull Performance Test Station. Their average daily weight gain was 2.15 Kg, at Food Conversion Rate of 5.8.

Moygara Japan's sire is also home bred. Moygara Bond ( see photo album), born 17/3/2001, is still working in 2013.
